LEARN HOW TO ROW!
When the weather begins to turn warmer and the river water heats up, we begin to offer our Learn to Row Classes for anyone who is interested in trying out the sport or taking a refresher course in sweep rowing or sculling. These classes are designed to introduce people to the sport of rowing and show them the benefits they can receive from exercising outdoors, while getting a total body workout in a fun way.
The classes usually last 2 hours each and are scheduled on Saturday morning. The cost for the class is $50. You will need to make a reservation for the class by contacting: richard@columbiarowingclub.com. Once you are scheduled for a session, you will be sent additional information about times, what to wear, and what to expect.
Taking a Learn to Row Class is the perfect way to see if rowing is for you! It gives you an introduction to the sport without having to commit up front. We hope to hear from you and be able to show you why so many of us have been rowing for decades.
JUNIORS ROWING PROGRAM
Columbia Rowing Club’s junior rowing program welcomes ages 14–17 in the Columbia area to learn the sport of rowing, build strength, develop discipline, and experience teamwork on the water. Whether students are brand new to rowing or interested in training more competitively, the program provides a supportive environment where young athletes can grow in confidence, improve their fitness, and become part of a dedicated rowing community on the Broad River.
MASTERS PROGRAM
COMPETITIVE:
The masters rowing program at CRC is a competitive adult group, ages 21 and over. There is a wide variety of experience in the group from rowers with only a few years of time in the sport to those who have been rowing for over a decade. Competition line-ups are based on a combination of rowers preferences, strength and technical abilities, however all members race if they choose to. The competitions range from local races in Augusta, GA and Clemson, SC to USRowing Masters Nationals. This program allows adults to have a fun and competitive environment while building teamwork and friendships.
RECREATIONAL:
Columbia Rowing Club has a unique set of programs which include a recreational rowing program. This option allows adult rowers who are not interested in competing to enjoy rowing as a hobby and fitness activity. We have members from their twenties to eighties who partake in this. After completing the safety requirements, these rowers may use CRC equipment, or their own, and use the facility at any time.
