CRC Calendar
The Spring 2010 season of Youth Rowing will begin on Saturday, February 6, at 11:00 am at the CRC Boathouse. Registration is underway and will continue until February 13.
To be a member of the CRC Youth Program each participant must:
- pass the Columbia Rowing Club swim test,
- have a parent/guardian sign the CRC release of liability,
- pay the fees outlined at the start of each rowing season,
- maintain a "C" average in academic classes,
- agree to the standards and rules as outlined in the Columbia Rowing Club Youth Handbook regarding behavior, attendance and parent/guardian volunteer participation, and
- read and return the signed Columbia Rowing Club Youth Contract.
Parent involvement Parental involvement is essential for CRC Youth Rowing to be successful! Columbia Rowing Club Youth Rowing encourages, and needs, parents to participate in the program in any of the following ways:
- Organize and serve on parent committees.
- Pay all fees immediately.
- Help with regatta food preparation and tent set-up.
- Chaperone rowers overnight at regatta hotels.
- Help with equipment maintenance.
- Cheer for CRC Youth Rowing at regattas.
- Support Fundraising Activities.
- Help organize and hold Social Activities.
- Volunteer to assist the coaches at the boathouse for practices.

Schedule Practice is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:45 - 6:30 pm and on Saturday mornings from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm.

Safety Everyone's safety is our highest priority. That is why we have the safety launch on the water at every Junior Practice that has rowers on the water. In the event of inclement weather, rowers report to the boathouse for potential land workout.
Races A regatta is a highlight for any rower. We competed in the following regattas during Fall 2009 Head of the Broad Regatta (Columbia) October 3: Won Silver in Youth Men's 1X, Silver in Youth Mixed 4X and Bronze in Youth Men's 2X Secret City Head Race (Oak Ridge, TN) October 31: Won Silver in Youth Mixed 2X and Bronze in Youth Men's 1X Head of the South (Augusta, GA) November 14: Won Silver in Youth Mixed 2X and finished fourth in Youth Men's 2X and Youth Men's 1X
For Spring 2010, we plan to participate in: Aiken-Augusta Invitational Regatta, Aiken March 13 John Hunter Regatta, Lake Lanier, GA March 27 Dogwood Regatta, Oak Ridge, TN April 24
In addition, we plan to participate in several meets with area Youth Programs in Columbia and possibly at their venue.
